The Good Character Standards Board (The Board) was established in late 2019 as an independent authority to improve due diligence in contract formation with the introduction of individual character ratings.
Just as credit reporting agencies keep credit scores for individuals that can be used to check their suitability to take credit, the intention is that The Board will keep character ratings for individuals that can be used to check their suitability to take deals.
The Board recognises individuals of exceptional character that are predisposed to honour agreements and cooperate in deal-making and disputes in good-faith. Candidates that qualify receive a character rating and are named on the roll.
Candidates will be graded on Integrity, Prudence and Uses of Power. The Board will have regard to a candidate's track record in deal-making and disputes, role in the community/industry, references and its own due diligence.
